Exeltech Welcomes Martin Fisher
Exeltech Consulting welcomes Martin Fisher, PE, to its Environmental Services team as a Water Resources Engineer. Martin joins Exeltech with 30 years of experience in both urban and natural water resources projects, including hydrology and hydraulic analysis for stream restoration design, floodplain boundary determination, wetland mitigation and restoration, bridge scour analysis, and stormwater management. He will lead hydraulic engineering design for fish passage, bridge, roadway, and drainage projects, working closely with Exeltech’s ecologists, fisheries biologists, civil and structural engineers, and landscape architects.
Martin grew up in Tumwater, Washington. After earning a BS in Civil Engineering from Saint Martin’s University in 1989, he worked for Thurston County Stormwater Utility (now Public Works), and then in the Headquarters Hydraulics Office of WSDOT designing hydraulics-related features of transportation projects. In this role, he was the primary author of the first edition of the Highway Runoff Manual, WSDOT's primary source of stormwater planning and design requirements.
Since 1998, Martin has worked in the private sector focusing on stream restoration and fish passage improvement projects. He enjoys these types of projects because their complexity requires the collaborative efforts of a team with diverse areas of expertise. “Basically, I like that no single person can do the project alone—so I am able to work with other engineers and ecologists to come up with a design that accommodates all the needs from the different specialty areas—structural, geotechnical, environmental, and others,” he said.
In his off hours, Martin enjoys hiking and fishing, and playing electric guitar and bass (his neighbors enjoy when he goes hiking and fishing). Martin is based in Exeltech’s corporate office in Lacey, Washington.
